Actor Steve Buscemi is OK after he was punched in the face by a man on a New York City street, his publicist said Sunday.
The 66-year-old star of “Fargo” and “Boardwalk Empire” was assaulted late Wednesday morning in Manhattan and taken to a nearby hospital with bruising, swelling and bleeding to his left eye.

Buscemi is not just an actor. He’s a genuine hero. Before going into acting, Buscemi was a NYC fireman. Right after 9/11 Buscemi reported back to his old fire station. He helped with recovery efforts. No publicity. No spotlight. Just admirable behavior.
Of course being a hero won’t save you in Biden’s America.

Fargo...great film. And the fact about his work after 9/11 is impressive.

It appeared to be another random attack by a minority on an older white person, just ‘because’.
Too bad Steve was caught by surprise and w/o a gun to respond with.

Not to mention his meme immortality as the “how do you do, fellow kids” guy.

As I noted earlier, Buscemi was once a NYC firefighter. And he reported back to his old station after 9/11. He wasn’t a firefighter at the time. It was not something that he had to do. Yet he did it.
Any recovery effort involves risk to the rescuers. Buscemi took that risk. And he did it without drawing any attention to himself. He just did it.
I call that heroic behavior. Your mileage may vary.

I think
this reasonably qualifies as heroic these days.

He’s great as Khruschev in “The Death of Stalin”. It’s a super weird comedy/historical movie that somehow is extremely funny while still truthfully expressing how brutal and cruel the soviet communists were.

Permit me to take a bit of a hit here. In my post #1 I said that Buscemi reported to his old fire station right after 9/11. I thought the word “old” would imply that Buscemi was not a firefighter at the time.
Upon reflection, I can see where someone might not have drawn that same conclusion. I should have been a little clearer.
And for that I will blame my cat. He was yelling about food, and so distracted me.🐈

"I think the shutdown is ridiculous. I think the Republicans in Congress are holding the country hostage. I think it's criminal. I don't see why they're allowed to do it." Buscemi on politics livens up. "The Tea Party faction of the Republican party are holding the Republican party hostage. They've hijacked it. I don't understand their philosophy. I think that in their own hearts and minds there's a reason why they feel they're doing good. But I certainly don't agree with it. And I hope the shutdown effects change. I hope people remember this in the next cycle of elections." - Steve Buscemi, 2013
I hope he remembers this beating in the next cycle of elections.
