> The Monroe Doctrine applied to Europe I thought. <
The United States trashed the Monroe Doctrine in 1917. The Doctrine had two parts. Europe was not to interfere in the Americas. And the United States was not to interfere in Europe.
Woodrow Wilson sent American supplies to Britain, and American troops to fight in France. We interfered. We broke the agreement. Maybe it was necessary. But we broke the agreement. So we can’t whine much when someone wants to interfere here.

Very interesting. Didn’t know that. It appears that with time we can’t avoid staying out of conflicts. Oil in the mideast makes us very involved there-didn’t before. Is it the rich folks doing it? They’re not worth dying for. It appears we can’t be uninvolved when we’re affected so how do we stay unaffected? The Houtis could close off the Red Sea. Who will bomb them besides us?
We having the right to ultimately control the Panama Canal in the agreement. Having the right and the ability are 2 different things-interesting times.
