McDonald’s is working to introduce a value meal in U.S. stores to help offset an increasingly challenging environment for consumers, two people familiar with the matter told CNBC.
The people said the $5 meal could include four items: a McChicken or McDouble, four-piece chicken nuggets, fries and a drink. The value meal was first reported by Bloomberg News.
The potential new offering comes at a time when low-income consumers are beginning to pull back on spending, particularly at fast-food brands. Yes, McDonald’s is getting more expensive, but seems to me they are trying their best to keep prices down some. Wendy’s, Arby’s and the rest are getting crazy.
The people that eat there regularly might be too stupid to keep themselves alive- My people perish for lack of knowledge. How ‘bout that “Age of Enlightenment?” Whoever borrowed it, please return.
Last time I had a meal at McDonalds they advertised getting change back from your dollar. This was a burger, fries and soft drink.
I did go there for coffee once a decade or so ago...
Yes, soon Wendy’s small frosty will be about the size of shot glasses.
It would be cute if they added a union Fries Guy bobblehead that plays, “Ding Fries Are Done! Ding Fries Are Done!”
And they won’t have to tell you if it is their printed stem cell meat either! barf

I remember when a Big Mac was 50 cents.
By me if you use their app on your phone and search deals, they have buy one get one free double cheeseburger or six-piece chicken nuggets, mix and match, customizable, for $3.58 plus tax. Plus .50 cent breakfast sandwiches one per day, excluding the bagel breakfast sandwiches. 53 cents for a sausage egg and cheese on a toasted English muffin or biscuit is pretty good.

All of which will weigh in at a whopping 6oz
All the chains give you a discount if you do it that way.
Who cares? I’m sure it sucks just like their overpriced items.
Probably to compete with Wendy’s $5 Biggie Bag, which is a pretty good deal these days - double-stack burger, 4 chicken nuggets, small fry, drink.
Wendy’s Junior Bacon Cheeseburger is about $3.05 and it’s good. (Littleton, CO)
The crispy chicken BLT is also good and is the same price.
And a water is free.
Eleven cents. I collected coke bottles.
I keep getting Luke warm hamburgers from there.
Won’t work. Does America know the government is complicit in this?
Why am I picturing a bug patty on a no sesame bun with a side of artificial seaweed fries.
