Earth could suffer the worst solar storm in 165 years as six streams of plasma that erupted from the sun this week are set to make crash into our atmosphere tonight.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) revealed Friday that the worst-case scenario would be what happened during the 1859 Carrington event, which set telegraph stations on fire, cutting communications worldwide.
In our modern-day society a geomagnetic storm - a major disturbance of Earth's magnetosphere- of that magnitude would cause widespread electrical disruptions, blackouts and damage to critical infrastructure.

Good thinking, that way if the EBT cards go down for a while it might keep them occupied.
Y’all made my day, off to find some hagrabiscuits😎
Just to update, saw a very good auroral display here (near US-Canada border north of Spokane) around 2330h PDT, green and red rays covering the entire sky. NOAA space weather page shows no changes as the auroral ring rotates around through Asia at present, and two large flares occurred since last night’s viewing, so I would be optimistic about seeing it again tonight where skies are clear.
I believe so many others commenting seemed to agree with the headline NOAA says tonight's 'cannibal' solar storm could be worst in 165 YEARS and cause GPS and power outages - as they reveal exact time it'll hit, that I felt those who didn't refute it were agreeing with it.
Thanks

Is that to protect them from the solar surges?
Where is the govt. looking out for me? (I pay taxes)
