And that was a travesty. He was disbarred for life. He was sued by the Lacrosse players, and he ended up filing bankruptcy. His previous cases were reviewed, and it was found that he had ignored due process and failed to provide DNA evidence which would have acquitted the alleged perp in a murder case. The man originally convicted and sentenced to 20 years was granted a new trial, found not guilty, and released.
Nifong's failures were with State cases. Smith is a Federal Prosecutor appointed by the Attorney General to investigate a President of the United States. The punishment should be harsher. If anything Smith had the responsibility to ensure that the evidence that was collected hadn't been tampered with before he even charged President Trump. He didn't, and that in itself is not only a lack of judgement, but I would say, it is also an ethics violation. When you're in a position that Smith is, you don't assume anything, and like the old saying goes: "When you wrongly assume something, you make an ASS out of U and ME. Alec Baldwin assumed the gun he was handed had blanks in it. Standard gun safety requires that anytime someone hands you a gun, you open it up, check it to make sure it's either not loaded, or loaded with the required number and type of cartridges. You take no one's word for it. And Like Nifong, Smith has a history of violating ethics, most of which have taken place in the international courts. Rick Grenell has written extensively on that.
I’ll never understand these people, they spend all that time and money getting a law degree, working their way up and they gamble it all for what? What did Nifong hope to achieve?
And all these prosecutors going after Trump, are they aware he very well could become POTUS and get a pitbull for AG who will come after them? And they are willing to risk everything just to please a scumbag like Biden who they damn well know doesn’t give one rats ass about them? These people are insane.
And herein lies the major issue - Smith has no authority to prosecute anybody. Federal Prosecutors must be appointed/approved by Congress, not the USAG.
Further Smith and his case is an act of malice - he knows he does not have authority, or a case - it is disintegrating before his eyes. Yet he continues pushing, as if nobody is watching. Smith is in denial, obstinate - a classic “three wise monkeys” personality. He is - I believe - afraid for his life, and rightly so./p>
