Correct. Technically, a ‘wheel loader’ (vs a ‘track loader’). Tracks are tough on sidewalks and curbs.
The ‘front end’ is wasted words in the equipment industry jargon, since the operator is facing forward toward the loader mechanism.
Hauled both through the years. You could spot a newbie at hauling equipment when they didn’t know the jargon, for example: tracked excavator= track-hoe; bulldozer= dozer; road grader= blade; earth mover= scraper.
