Why would the US even want a Cinco de Mayo celebration as it has no US connections. The US had their own Civil War going at that time. It is like the US celebrating some obscure battle in the Middle East or Europe that has no connections to the US.

Fair enough question, but ethnic groups often have celebrated holidays from their original homelands. Funny thing is, Cinco de Mayo wasn’t all that big a thing in Mexico until the beer companies promoted it as an excuse to drink cheap Mexican beer here in America.

And, of course, Cinco de Cuatro (as Obama called it) has absolutely no connection to the hoards from Central America.

Cinco de Mayo isn’t even celebrated in Mexico, it’s a made up holiday by the alcohol industry.
