Dennis Prager loves to bring up the idea of bombing the rail lines leading to the camps.
I don’t know how much Prager knows about the accuracy of WWII bombs, but I suspect it’s pretty close to “nothing at all”. And the same goes for how long he thinks that it would take to repair railroad tracks. (it can basically be done in hours)
WWII bombs are called “dumb bombs”. They weren’t accurate and that’s why fleets of bombers dropped a whole lot of them when trying to hit a target. If you bombed the rail lines leading to the camps you were equally likely to blow up the camps and the prisoners too.
Diverting bombers from campaigns that would destroy Germany’s ability to wage war wasn’t a convincing argument either. The quicker Germany was crippled the sooner the war would be over for everyone, including the American GIs getting maimed and killed by the thousands each week.
