The ADL was founded after the KKK and Progressive Democrats lynched Frank for being an innocent man on the verge of getting a second trial and to ensure that the corrupt prosecutor, Dorsey became governor. The janitor, Jim Conley , raped and murdered Phagan. He was observed washing blood from his clothing and wrote a letter admitting his crime. Killing another Black man was of no political value for the KKK and Democrats. Blaming and killing a northern factory owner served their political purposes. And so they had Frank changed despite the lack of evidence, and the grand jury was pressured not to indict Conley.
