Former President Donald Trump has laid out the most concrete timeline yet for when he might select his running mate for the 2024 Republican ticket.
“I’ll be picking, but probably not too much before the convention, which I happen to be having in the great state of Wisconsin,” the presumptive GOP nominee told FOX 6 Milwaukee during a campaign visit to the battleground state Wednesday.
The Republican National Convention will be held in Milwaukee July 15-18. Traditionally, the vice presidential nominee will address the delegates on the penultimate night of the gathering.
A source familiar with the conversation previously told The Post that biotech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy is almost definitely out of the running for VP, while allies of the former president said South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has “no shot” at the position after she recounted a 20-year-old story about killing her dog.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also ruled himself out as Trump’s running mate in a February call with donors.
Bloomberg reported Thursday that the former president had narrowed his choices to four top contenders: North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Republican Sens. JD Vance of Ohio, Marco Rubio of Florida and Tim Scott of South Carolina.

“I don’t see any of these helping close the suburban women gap”
They could. Women vote for the one they would most imagine bedding down. With that metric, Vance maybe, not Rubio or Scott. The other guy seems boring. Nothing is as boring as a North Dakota governor.
Your “vibe” is your proof?
Gonna need need than that my FRiend.
A lot of people reject others because they are “different”. Vivek is “different” in certain ways, but his consistent declarations of dismantling the unconstitutional portion of gov’t is EXACTLY what we need. Your “vibe” doesn’t refute his consistent declarations and stand.
Burgum or Vance would be OK with me. Not that Trump is asking for my opinion. 😏
True - he’d be valuable as Chief of Staff. I was focusing on moving into the Presidency, at any time, if need be. Also, being VP for four years, working closely with the all-time best President, would move him nicely into position for 2028.
We shall see. I think I like the way he tells the truth, without fear.
Big fat “NO!”to Scott, Lisa Murkowski’s BFF.
I didn’t even look above to see which candidate you are describing.
Because you are describing 99% of all politicians and maybe 100%.
Burglum worked an McKinsey, one of the filthiest companies ever, and Microsoft. No thanks.
I’m fine with Scott, and as long as the vice presidential candidate is not a disaster as a candidate, I don’t care who he picks Neither does anyone else in the end.
Who said anything about proof? You asked me “How so” and I explained my reasoning.
>>Vivek is “different” in certain ways, but his consistent declarations of dismantling the unconstitutional portion of gov’t is EXACTLY what we need.
Do you have proof of that or is that just your opinion? Gonna need a lot more than just your opinion FRiend.
>>[Vivek’s] consistent declarations of dismantling the unconstitutional portion of gov’t is EXACTLY what we need.
Mike Johnson said a lot of nice things and made a lot of promises too. If you’re just going to automatically believe anything a politician tells you without trying gauge his character, then you’re very foolish.
Rubio is fine. Not sure why he gets the hate. He voted against Mitch for Leader. If nothing else he’s not as hive minded as most.
Sound reasoning requires support.
JD Vance
Nothing wrong with supported opinion. That’s where “proof” comes in. Your “vibe” is subjective proof of how your feel, but not support of the objective truth of your accusation that Vivek is an “insincere opportunist & grifter”.
If you’re targeting the female vote youll need to go with Senator Thune or a very unattractive girl.
Try again.
Mike Johnson doesn’t support the objective truth of your accusation of Vivek being an “insincere opportunist & grifter” any more than your subjective “vibe”.
This is a debate forum and unsupported opinions are usually blasted out. If you make an accusation with no objective support you’re in trouble in the debate forum of ideas which is what FR is. Better to share your unsupported “vibe” elsewhere.
I’m good at reading people. I’m not perfect at it, but more often than not I get it right. Like you, I’ve made a judgement about Vivek’s character. I could spend time identifying specific comments he’s made, mannerisms, etc. and micro-analyzing his behavior for you but the bottom line is my judgement is based on an intuitive assessment of a number of behavioral details. Whether that convinces you or not means nothing to me.
Definite “No” to Rubio and Scott.
I’d be happy with either Vance or Burgum.
Again, in a debate forum like FR, unsupported subjective opinion doesn’t count for much. Your objective accusation against Vivek has no objective support.
As I said, better for you to take your unsupported accusations elsewhere.
