F-35 is the Swiss Army Knife plane

Tried to build Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps all on the same basic airframe (a bad idea, IMHO)

Still, there are 3 distinct versions - especially the VSTOL Marine Corps version

F-22 is basically only Air Force capable

From what I’ve seen over the past years, that ‘Swiss Army Knife’ is badly engineered and broken.
Why does the USMC need a plane, if air support comes form the USAF and/ or USN?

Didn’t they plan to phase out the F-22? We only have about 185 of them when we need 1000 +.
