What he should have done is exercise his right to remain silent. He didn’t. Now he’s looking at felony jail time, and not much he can do about it.
You are probably right. I thought he should have fessed up from the start - I'd like to believe we should be able to honestly answer questions, but I've heard too many times of people getting hosed by talking to the police without a lawyer.
