I really appreciate the dose of sanity and the blunt perspective you are giving to this discussion.
I do find it funny when people dismiss my comparisons between law enforcement and military operations. Military operations are actually EASIER when it comes to kicking in doors because many times you're going in there to kill everything that moves. In law enforcement, your goal is to get the suspect out alive and relatively unharmed (unless they are using deadly force against you or someone else).
I once went to a Krav Maga class and the instructor was former IDF. When I told him I'm a cop he said, "I don't like training cops. In the military I teach how to kill, but cops can't learn those moves. Cops have to learn how to control but they cannot learn moves that can kill and I can't teach that way."
It opened my eyes a bit.
