Maybe the speed limits are too low.

I read somewhere a long time ago (maybe Car and Driver) that U.S. speed limits are almost universally 15mph lower than the design speed of the road.

Also, don't forget the pesky old California research that showed it isn't speed that causes accidents on highways, it's DIFFERENCE in speed (a mix of high and low speed vehicles).

Excellent point. Consider the frustration and road rage possibilities as speed controlled vehicles obstruct traffic flow and become rolling roadblocks, particularly when speed limits are unreasonably low. This is exactly what will happen when "full self driving" vehicles, which are programmed to perfectly obey speed laws, start to show up.

And GPS, which as we all know is perfect and error free, will be used to orchestrate the chaos. /s
