BTW, people who use the term AI to describe deep learning, machine learning and the like readily admit that what they call "AI" is changing so fast they don't know what to call it or how to describe it. Some are referring to it as a "digital organism" though it isn't actually "digital" or an "organism."
Whatever it is, it sure as hell isn't just "programming."

You raise a good point about the arguments of trans people and their demands about language. The behavior of trans people is similar to that of certain people on this thread who complain about the use of the term "AI" to describe hardware/software that tries to mimic human intelligence.
Both groups are trying to control the language...both are trying to tell people what language to use or not to use.
No one insisted or demanded that the term "AI" be used. It simply happened.
Complaining about its use is Orwellian/Marxian.
