“Daniel Loeb”

Loeb or Löb is a surname of German and Yiddish origin. It is derived from the word lion in German and Yiddish in different historic and dialectal forms (Löwe, Lewe, Löb, Leb, Leib). In Yiddish it is mostly written לייב (Leib).

Well Mr. Loeb has every reason to reconsider his hiring practices and can’t blame him.

The only thing that strikes me as odd with this name is Loeb’s has some of the better bar-b-que in town, and yes it is pork.

Lightening the mood, there used to be an anthology called Loeb Classics. It contained edited versions of classic literature.

Widely, they were called Low Ebb Classics.
