The recent wave of violent protests and arrests at elite universities like Yale and Columbia have only confirmed for Scott Katz that he made the right decision to attend Elon University. The North Carolina college, where he is currently wrapping up his sophomore year, is a long way from his hometown of Lafayette Hill, the predominantly liberal Philadelphia suburb where the average home costs $610,000.
Katz, who is Jewish, says the antisemitism that’s increasingly visible at colleges nationwide—especially in the Ivy League, and other elite institutions like Stanford and Berkeley—hasn’t even touched his campus.
“I haven’t been affected by it at all,” Katz told me. “I definitely feel very safe on campus regarding my religion.”
He notes that Elon was one of only two universities in the country to get an A grade from the Anti-Defamation League for its policies protecting Jewish students against hate. (The other is Brandeis.) According to the ADL ranking, Elon has seen zero “severe antisemitic and anti-Zionist incidents” and zero “hostile anti-Zionist student groups.”
“It was a big deal,” Katz says of the level of comfort he feels on campus.

My daughter goes to a small college here in NC and she’s actually learning quite a bit. DEI sh*t kept to the minimum.
This would be a healthy trend even without the Ivies’ antisemitic hate campaigns. Come out from among them.
Years ago, I would have recommended Washington & Lee.
But no more.
W&L now stands for Woke & Liberal.
Gotta go further south than Lexington, VA!!!!
I have a child at Rice in Houston. Zero issues so far.
University of Texas, in contrast, has had plenty from what friends say. In fact, all of Austin is pretty hostile to Jews.
Yes but it still Elon. The Fighting Christians. Elon was widely known as the school you attend when you get kicked out of another school.
Note: My cousin taught at their law school.
I’ve also seen a couple of Catholic colleges say that they were welcoming Jewish students and weren’t allowing the harassment Jewish students might experience elsewhere.
I am just thankful that my girls got through college before this insanity started.
Depends on who these kids are.
Blue states have been exporting thier mind slaves to the south trying to change it, hopefully these kids aren’t already destroyed mentally.
He shouldn’t take that for granted. it’s not where he is...... yet.
Give it time because the rise of anti-semitism is going to accelerate. He needs to be cautious no matter where he is. Irrational hatred like that knows no bounds.
If you think about it, their opinion matters the most about college because those are the people you want to one day impress enough with your training to hire you.
Don't ask the college advisors what's good -- they have to sell their product - the college they work for. And even if the college advisor is honest and looking out for the student's best interests, he may have little perspective about your career field in the real world outside of his academic bubble.
Someone commented yesterday on how today’s ANTIFA has gone from “Whack a nazi!” to “Whack a Jew” in just a few years. Much like Hitler and Stalin hugging up to each other again.

My oldest grandson is a senior at Wake Forest. It’s been a wonderful experience and he doesn’t want to leave.
I'm also surprised they didn't mention my alma mater, UF which is about 20% Jewish - indeed THE largest Jewish undergrad population in the US.
Miami being horribly expensive and full of Yankees comes as utterly no surprise. That's been true for decades and decades.
They haven't been elite in more than a century other than in their own marketing campaigns.
There’s always the option of undergrad degrees in Israel, where most universities have all English language programs, and where many BA programs are meant to be completed in three years instead of four.

Xlnt points.
I would endorse Elon, I went to a 2 year general studies program at Louisburg, which wasn’t far. There were a number of Richmond Virginia student’s at both schools, must have been a collaboration of some sort between the “junior colleges” in the NC Piedmont area and Virginia HS guidance counselors during that period of time. I later went to a black college and found it to be an exceptional experience. Thus advancing in my trade. I believe it’s called non-traditional college education. I highly recommend it, no matter how you work it.
The “Ivy League” was a proposed intercollegiate association pitched by sportscaster Stanley Woodward during the interwar period and wasn’t formalized until the mid-fifties. It is not an old name for elite schools, as many people believe. Only Princeton and Yale were every “elite” in the sense of class pretension, U Penn was an “honest earner” performance uni, and Harvard and Brown, particularly, were laughingstock shitholes.
