I hear you but a whole hell of a lot of people would have to do that to earn back the massive construction and operating costs
If you look at the number of people catching the shuttle flights between LA area airports and Vegas and compare the price to what a rail ticket would cost and the location of the rail terminal.
It can work, it has to be fun, economical, and operate a reasonable schedule.
