1. The private investment (and it will be privately run) is more than three times the public investment.
2. There are many times more annual S.Cal. visitors to Las Vegas as there are visitors between S.F. and S. Cal, making the new line more feasible - in terms of passenger revenues, than the stupid gpvernment built S.F. to L.A, line.
3. Most of what California is contributing is land along the I-15 right of way.
4. What AMTRAK and S.Cal. rail system will add will be a train hub in the Rancho Cucamonga area for both the new line from LasVegas and the existing train line that runs between San Bernardino and L.A.
5. Caveat - what they missed was a direct connection to the Ontario Airport on the south edge of Rancho Cucamonga.
This venture has tons more possiblity for success than the S.F. to L.A. line.
JFTR, “privately run” doesn’t mean completely out of the fare revenue or private finance.
