Not sure. But in the 1800s there was the line:
“Where they burn books, they will, in the end, burn human beings too.”-—in a book Almansor: A Tragedy (1823) by Heinrich Heine, born a Jew but converted to Christianity.

For the ones during the WWII era here is an ad actually stating that (to show Hitler hated the classics we honored)

“The are the books that Hitler burned.”

Look up Magnus Hirschfeld. His “books” were burned.
