Meanwhile, if the Strait of Hormuz closes we have 17 days of oil supply in our Strategic Reserve.

If the Strait closes, tankers will just go the long way around. We also produce quite a bit of oil - it's not like everything just stops and we only draw from the Reserve.. But if we did, you bet your ass it'd be held for military purposes, no way it's a good idea to just dump it into everyone's gas tanks!

Yes, about 11,000 extra miles at a much higher cost and slower rate of travel. Also, not all tankers can make the trip due to range issues.

Yes, we produce 16.3mm gallons a day. We can refine 17.9mm barrels a day. Unfortunately, we consume 19.4mm barrels a day.
