Bill Maher is not fully there yet, but he’s been coming around to a more sensible world & social viewpoint for a number of years now.
Conquest's First Law: Everyone is conservative about what he knows best.
When he was younger, Mahar had the wisdom of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Now he's getting old, and he knows more about the world, and about life. Since learning a few things, he's becoming conservative. He hasn't reached the point of admitting it, but if he lives long enough that will come.

I agree. Sen. John Fetterman is moving in that same direction. They’re both talking more and more like classical, old-time liberals.
Both will continue to vote straight Democrat. I’m quite sure of that.
However, Maher and Fetterman are talking to people who would otherwise just hear nothing but sick, continuous, woke spin. So you take what you can get. It’s better than nothing.
As a side note, some conservatives think Maher and Fetterman are both part of some conspiracy to confuse voters in an election year. Maybe so. But I think it’s more likely that they are simply waking up to reality, if only a little.
