I use one of those oil-filled heaters in my little cabin in the winter. it does a pretty good job but it is utterly voracious in terms of power consumption.
I’m showing on my last PGE bill:
peak usage @ .51536 / kWh
off peak: .48701 / kWh
outrageous.
That is very expensive. The kwh rate you are being charged is more than 4 times my rate here in NC. In fact, more than 5 times our rate of 10 cents for peak hours. Outrageous.

We use 3-4 of those in the house except on really cold mornings when the electric furnace is used to warm up.
They are basically 100% efficient so no complaints. Just not over 100% like a heat pump.
