Oh, you are going to get flamed for looking at a stock valuation based on financials and not emotions.
If the stock is in your name (registered directly to you) the exchange cannot lend them out. Unless you do that, the stock remains in the “street name” and the exchange can lend them out as they please.
If you haven’t taken that step, (and you would know it), it remains in the control of the exchange.
This has nothing to do with being in a margin account.
Conversely, the potential loss on a short sell is literally infinite.
Good move by Trump protecting peoples investments.
Nasdaq:DJT up today 25.72% at the closing bell.
FWIW, I buy put options when I want to short a stock, all my exposure is up front… just saying
I think wardaddy meant “SOES” and he is talking about this:
“SOES Bandits: Who They Were, What They did”
“SOES Bandits was the nickname given collectively to a group of individual investors who—following the 1987 Market Crash—exploited the Nasdaq’s Small Order Execution System (SOES) for day trading. The strategies and tactics they devised back then created the earliest form of what’s now called high-frequency trading. While the bandit’s average profit per trade is small, they make up for it by trading dozens or hundreds of times per week. Bandits usually establish a position prior to most market makers having updated their quotes and lay off the positions at favorable prices.
“An interesting side note to the SOES bandit story was their ability to profit off professional market markers despite a comparative disadvantage in information capabilities. Because bandits reap the profits and bear the losses from their trades, perhaps they were sharper given greater incentives to perform better than traditional market-making firms.

The only thing worse than using some obscure acronym is using a misspelled obscure acronym.

wardaddy’s Apple iPhone is highly prejudiced against his strong Southern accent. So when he uses voice to text it delights in sabotaging his efforts.
This will only get worse with AI enhanced iPhones, when they will get even smarter and more evil.
That’s why I hate AI and don’t want a “smart” home. I know the day will come when I’m outside in the freezing temperatures in a snowstorm and the pod bay doors won’t be opened for me.
Exactly. AI will become homocidal HAL
Yes I suck
So does Cupertino while we’re at it
No question they refuse to acknowledge southern accents on purpose
I mean Siri does Australian. And England English and even South African I think
Whereas Samsung transcribes voice to text reasonably well
