I just told Mike Johnson in conference that I’m cosponsoring the Motion to Vacate that was introduced by @RepMTG.

He should pre-announce his resignation (as Boehner did), so we can pick a new Speaker without ever being without a GOP Speaker.

Thanks for the insights.

I do not believe that US combat arms larger than a company sized element will be on the ground in Ukraine directly engaging Russian forces.

I have a question beyond any particular issue:

How is it good IN GENERAL when a Speaker can block a vote by the full House on any particular issue, particularly when it is clear that such a vote would easily pass?

I fail to see where our Founders intended a 4TH piece of government that essentially has veto power.

The whole idea is that we elect Representatives and Senators who then VOTE ON STUFF. If we don’t like their votes, we don’t vote for them.

Your solution will not work. It will force the Euro’s to arm up. Not just support NATO properly, I mean really arm up, and the US will have lost any leverage / trust, deterrence, and limiting of nuclear proliferation it still has.

That is the most dangerous long term scenario you could possibly come up with, ANYWHERE on this Earth. Not only that, it will spread.

Democracy is simple majority rule and majority rule has always proven to be a disaster, especially when politicians are involved

Our system is a Republic based on multiple checks and balances.

The power of the Speaker to allow or disallow legislation to come to a vote is a critical check and balance in our political

Like all things it is a double edged sword that can used to good purpose or abused for not so good purposes so electing good people to represent us is of great importance

At the end of the day, we get the people and the government we vote for

I think Johnson is doing a good job playing the crap hand he has been dealt

“That” being the arming up of Europe. (Other so-called “conclusions” get it there, too.)

Well, of course. But did our Founders intend THIS check (of not even having a vote)?

According to the intermediary, former Israeli PM Bennet, it was the Brits, primarily, who advised the Ukies to keep fighting, with the US vacillating.

Bennet is covering for Biden to curry his favor.

Boris Johnson went to Ukraine to torpedo the cease fire at the last moment

One of the things that Boris promised Ukraine was hundreds of billion of dollars in direct American military and financial aid to support Ukrainian the fight -which is what convinced Zelensky to walk away from the signing of the agreement

The Biden Administration wanted a proxy war for a lot of reasons, not the least of which was an excuse to blame Russia for the Biden induced induced inflation and sky high gas prices

Remember “The Putin Price Hike” mantra Biden was reflexively spouting before the Russian Tanks had even had a chance to top off their fuel tanks after crossing the Ukraine border

"The Republicans are about to lose the House Way to go slick"

I guess you haven't realized yet that when Republicans have the majority in the House, they behave as if they don't. It's been that way for decades. They've even voted to share power with RATS when they have had a slim majority. Congressional Republicans are a bunch of gutless wonders, and people continuing to vote for Rinos, just to keep a seat Republican, only perpetuates the problem.

"What America needs right now is a Speaker named Hakeem."

What would be ideal would be temporary Speakers because then nothing would get done.

So far Johnson has done everything that the democrats wanted. He has blocked anything the republicans have wanted including releasing all the Jan 6 video.

@catturd2
Good news folks ...

After the biggest betrayal in political history of Fraud Mike Johnson voting for a proven corrupt deep state to spy on average American citizens without a warrant, and after lying about releasing the Jan 6 tapes, and after giving Democrats everything they wanted on the budget, and after funding every foreign war except our own border - the phony is finally signing articles off impeachment of Mayorkas to try to fool you into believing he isn’t a backstabbing sellout with some planned red-meat Kabuki theater. I loathe this POS fraud.
