GOP Lawmakers Demand US Retaliate Against Iran Over Attack On Israel, Pushes Aid Package: ‘Long Past Time For Iran To Pay’

Republican lawmakers on Saturday demanded the U.S. launch a retaliatory strike against Iran for the drone and missile attacked launched against Israel.

On Saturday, Iran launched hundreds of suicide drones toward Israel and later ballistic missiles in a retaliatory attack for an airstrike on the Iranian consulate building in Syria that killed Tehran’s top commanders.

President Joe Biden vowed prior to the attack to do everything possible to protect Israel. However, aid to Israel amid the country’s war with Hamas has been delayed due to division within the Republican party.

Following the attack, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) announced the House will move forward next week to consider a bill that will provide Israel with an aid package.

“In light of Iran’s unjustified attack on Israel, the House will move from its previously announced legislative schedule next week to instead consider legislation that supports our ally Israel and holds Iran and its terrorist proxies accountable,” Scalise wrote. “The House of Representatives stands strongly with Israel, and there must be consequences for this unprovoked attack.”

The “military industrial complex” is tiny these days.

What a load of crap.

How much money has the defense industry made producing ammo, missiles, etc. for Ukraine over the past two years?

How much will it make replacing our deplete stock of ammo, missiles, etc. because of the war in Ukraine?

How much more will it make from European countries that gave their ammo, missiles, tanks, air defense systems, etc. to Ukraine?

The defense industry is big business and its business is booming because of war we did everything we could to make happen and continue.

Israel is showing restraint in not agitating the Mullahs city, like they should

Israel has its hand full in Gaza. The last thing it should want to deplete its resources and stretch its military thin in a war with Iran.

Saddams mouth did him in really.
He presented a puffed up image of his power, and that backfired.

Not much. Certainly not enough to sway nations with vastly greater concerns.

As I have often said, the big deal these days is the intersection of US politics/law and the medical-industrial complex. One or another regulatory tweak matter more than all of Ukraine.

And then there is the rest of the overregulated US economy. And then there is the SEC and its black hole of finance. Arms manufacturers are bottom-feeder stuff.

Agreed. This “huge” MIC people complain about can’t even produce artillery shells at the rate a country (Russia) with an economy the size of Italy is.

A somewhat different question: Was last night’s attack on Israel the largest long range drone and missile attack ever made? That seems likely to me.

Instead of escalating to an even wider war, why don’t these UniParty douches work on getting the Houthis under control, and the Canal back open ?

Lord, please remind these politicians how to talk as statesman.

They laughed at Noah.
When water covered the earth, they banged on the door to be let in. The door was closed.. Locked.

The “military industrial complex” is tiny these days. It’s a fraction of its Cold War state. It’s a bit tough to reconcile that as a political interest vs the vastly greater powers in the rest of the economy.
*********I************************************

Ahh… the good old “it’s just a rounding error” argument. “A mere pittance.”

The real spending problem is elsewhere… “Look over there …SQUIRREL, SQUIRREL, SQUIRREL!

Well, it is so. No political interest is being directed by the US “military industrial complex”. Events have overtaken it. Nobody is bending policy for its sake.

This is a similar argument, BTW, as when the anti-gun characters blame the “gun industry” for financing their opponents. The US civilian gun industry is a few medium and a bunch of small businesses.

All you guys want a boogeyman. It’s a very tiny, and thus unconvincing boogeyman.

The Israelis are MORE THAN CAPABLE of doing that themselves. Just STAY OUT OF THEIR WAY and don’t second guess, criticize or backbite them.

We don’t need to involve ourselves in everybody else’s wars! IT’S NOT OUR WAR!

There’s such a disjunction with the ostensible leader of the party, Trump.

The people are with Trump. They trust Trump. Why can’t these legislators get with the program?
