People here have no idea how bad it is.
This isn't 1941 when America could crank up it's industrial muscle and militarize overnight.
We've shuttered steel mills and foundries. We don't make a single computer chip or pressed circuit board in this country. Even if we wanted to build more munitions factories, the environmental impact study alone would take a decade. And then we'd have to deal with DEI contracts and hiring.
Russia's foundries are running 24/7. They produce twice the number of artillery shells as every NATO country combined. China has over 230 TIMES the shipbuilding capacity as the United States. They don't worry about environmental impact studies or if there are the required number of black transwomen pouring concrete.
The problem is we have the lack of political will.
All we need to do is to get a bunch of Titans of Industry like Elon Musk together so they can start to mass produce all the ammunition for Ukraine and we'll give them what they need.
The Russians botched the invasion in 2022 so at the time there was no reason for us to do anything. Or we thought so, in retrospect.
How many super carriers does Russia build and deploy? No amount of fetishizing of Putin and his Russia will change the fact that he is weak and his regime in Potemkin. Strong leaders have no need to murder their political opponents. Strong countries have no need to use military action and Stalinist mass murder when economic means should achieve their political goals.
