From this point, the Justice system is trying to figure out a way to be lenient to him. When my brother was mugged, they told him “We don’t investigate these crimes. Be more careful next time”. If he had told them they are anti-gay MAGA hats that did it, they would investigate it.

I’m afraid you’re right. While the woman could have died from this, and the thug (a racist term I know) showed complete indifference to his victim, being more intent on stealing whatever he could from her, I foresee a prosecutor willing to offer him a reduced sentence ‘because of his youth’. “We have to somehow break the crime to prison pipeline.”

One can only hope his ‘unforeseen medical emergency’ is at least as painful as his victim’s injuries.
