Don’t be pedants, you dam well know that has been the common usage for a long, long time.

I'm going to keep on being a pedant because our dumbed-down culture leaves me with some pet peeves:

• "To decimate" means to reduce by a tenth, not to destroy or annihilate.

• An "apocalypse" is a disclosure, not a catastrophe.

• Even though it is widely used, "Prequel" is not a word. "Antecedent" or "precursor" should be used instead.

Correct. Meanings of words change over time. It’s surprising how many people don’t realize that.

Seems to me it just became common last several years and it still isn’t right
