A far-right Arizona state senator led a prayer circle speaking in tongues on the chamber floor Monday, a day before the state Supreme Court upheld a Civil War-era law banning nearly all abortions.

Having grown up in a tongue speaking church, that’s pretty close.
Yes
So where are the leftists freaking out about biden speaking in tongues all the time?
Have they ever heard him give a speech?
Well, since Satan himself was once an unfallen angel, I would expect he's be familiar with any language that angels might speak.
Besides the idea that tongues is a language that Satan cannot understand has absolutely ZERO Scriptural support.
I don't know where that concept came from or who invented it, but it is NOT found in Scripture.
Good catch.
It’s not the first time-

Huh. Wonder if he’s a paid operative.
After I pointed out certain posters only post M-F 9-5 and are obviously paid it led to my second or third banning. I Generally I respect private property and currently avoid calling out folks as paid posters by name.
evidently someone with a poor understanding of tongues. The sole example in the new testament was
Peter preaching to 3000 people who each heard him in their native tongue, the purpose of tongues is to be understood.
I’m pretty sure that some of the posts on this thread are tantamount to blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. One should be very careful about that — especially if otherwise well-informed in the scriptures. Such people should know better.
Blasphemy in what way?
He’s under influence of the Holy Spirit?
Not implying that at all.
It’s just hypocritical for the left to condemn praying in tongues when Christians do it, and pass it off as if it didn’t happen when biden does it.
Besides, speaking in tongues is not exclusive to Christianity. It happens in other religions, too. It can be faked at the very least.
Let’s see how this goes - - -
I have never found scripture that satan CAN understand tongues (See v. 2 below).
Meanwhile, I see ‘public’ tongues, requiring interpretation, and ‘private’ prayer language tongues.
I believe both are addressed here; my thoughts in ( ):
1 Cor 14
1 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
(Note - no one understands him, should include satan)
3 But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.
4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.
(Private prayer language)
5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; [a]for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.
6 But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching?
7 Even things without life, whether flute or harp, when they make a sound, unless they make a distinction in the sounds, how will it be known what is piped or played?
8 For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?
9 So likewise you, unless you utter by the tongue words easy to understand, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air.
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without [b]significance.
11 Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a [c]foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me.
12 Even so you, since you are [d]zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the [e]edification of the church that you seek to excel.
13 Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
(private prayer language)
15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
(Praying with the spirit is not praying with understanding)
16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say?
17 For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;
( I don’t think Paul ever wrote: Here’s the interpretation of my thousands of words in tongues. . . . He wrote with his understanding. His thousands of words would be his private prayers)
19 yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue.
(in the church understanding is preferred. Without understanding would be outside the church)
and pass it off as if it didn’t happen when biden does it.
I am familiar with 1 Corinthians 14.
However, just because Scripture doesn’t say something it not possible, doesn’t give anyone license to make something up and claim it to be true because it can’t be disproved by Scripture.
Yet that is EXACTLY what the *Satan can’t understand tongues* theology is doing. It’s an assumption. Mostly rationalization for encouraging praying in tongues. And on ONE verse that tells us that Satan can’t understand it.
Not only that, Paul only references praying in tongues, that he did it. We are never commanded to do it in Scripture. Nor does Scripture tell us it’s a *heavenly language*. And IIRC, it’s the only place where it is mentioned. It just mentions that it happened, just like Paul mentions that the Corinthians were being baptized for the dead.
Mentioning it does not endorse it nor does mentioning it give instructions on how to practice it.
This guy publicly prayed in tongues with a bunch of people, Christian and non-Christian, around him, with no interpreter.
= =
But he wasn’t “in Church” and thus maybe didn’t need an interpreter.
I said that tongue in cheek, in case you haven’t figured that out.
In no way was that meant to mean that I thought the gibberish coming out of biden’s mouth was the legitimate gift of tongues.
1 cor 12: 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus [c]accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
“That’s the only way to get to the Lord. He don’t answer if you just say ‘Hey Lord!’.....You got to speak in a tongue!”
