The Arizona Supreme Court ruled Tuesday to reinstate a 160-year-old abortion ban—and Republicans who previously backed it, including Senate candidate Kari Lake, immediately began flip-flopping.
The court overturned a 2022 law that allows for abortions until 15 weeks, paving the way for an 1864 ban that prohibits the procedure in almost all cases, except to save the life of the mother.

Do you stand for anything, Kari?
She must be running for office again
AZ politics is complex.
Between the Mormon Mafia, the McCain faction and all the retirees, you fight the battles you can win.
Normally Yahoo would be ecstatic about this. But they seem almost angry. Interesting.
And also interesting that an all Repub Supreme court, with 5 out of 7 appointed by McCain repub anti-Trump Ducey decided this was the perfect time to examine an 1864 territorial law.
I would vote for any Republican over a Dem, and I’d vote for Kari Lake. However, when Obama won in 2008, she switched her registration to Dem. When Trump won in 2016, she changed to Republican. She’d be much better than a Dem in any office, but she’s been all over the place with her politics.
Nope, she's all in for killing the babies. Winning office means more to her than values, else now we see her real values.
The republicans on the AZ Supreme Court are of the McStain faction. It would not surprise me one bit if they have made this ruling to help the commie running against Kari Lake. RINOs are happy for commies to win if it means MAGA is defeated.
Exactly. This is the same Arizona GOP that fought vote audits tooth and nail. Now they decided to stir up the nutty emotion driven female baby-killer vote, right as the most critical election on our history since 1860 is heating up. And Lindsey Graham just came out and said now we need a federal abortion law, even though he has ZERO chance of passing one in this Senate.
It’s almost like a plan.
Only winning matters
She’s smart. Call on the Govenor and the state legislature to fix the law. Be forceful and explain how this is the reason why ensuring this is a state issue is critical because now we don’t have to wait 20 years for DC to tell us what to do. The Govenor and the legislature know exactly what Arizonians expect from this law and can deliver it very quickly.
It’s politics folks. Learn it or live with Pedophiles and Tranniea running the world.
She stands for Trump
You’re not bright. This is a state issue. Neither the President nor a Senator needs to fix it. Demagogue this to death by calling on the state legislature and the Governor to get in line with the constituency of the great state of Arizona. Never specify the fix, Demagogue it to death. This is how you actually get elected.
The federal government needs out of it, no money, no facilities, no support or facilitation of abortion.
Until then, the feds are involved.
I’m still waiting for her to recall the governor like she said she was going to do. The good thing about this law is we find out who the real Christians are.
True. Winning elections is much more difficult, if candidates take a hard line no exceptions position on abortion.
Salem radio talk show host Mike Gallagher, not to be confused with Congressman Mike Gallagher, has talked a lot about this. He’s Christian and unabashedly pro-life, yet talks of the political difficulties of a hard line position. He says we won’t be able to achieve any other conservative goals if we can’t elect conservatives, because of such conservatives taking the hard line position.
Then I know some conservatives take the position that nothing else matters if we allow abortion under even limited circumstances.
Are you sure? Granted, Trump is back to his roots, out of the closet, not objecting to abortion, but my comment and the article is about Lake, not Trump.
This is a state issue and needs to be put on the ballot or voted on by reprsenatives.
And the ‘gay marriage’ thing? That never should have been ‘made law’ by a single judge. States need to vote on that too.,
Show me one “conservative” (including DeSantis, I know you like him a lot, who has shut down the government, refused to fund the Government, would be willing to withhold Ukraine funding, prevent military spending etc. Until the Biden administration stops funding abortions. The answer is no one is willing to do that and unless they are spare me the cheap talk.
ARIZONA will not tolerate the 1864 ban. If you want Biden to carry the state 80-20, insist on your way.
Kari Lake is right. Bad decision IMHO, but hideous politics.
