I liked the Jonny Cash movie he did. I’ve watched that movie a couple of times.After that movie he became a hermit for a while. He should have never reappeared.
Having the 911 call you placed where you’re bawling your eyes out, b/c your famous older brother OD’d on coke and heroin, played over and over on all the news channels and talk shows could make one a little, “off.”
Joaquin Phoenix is an incredible actor. They lead with his name for a reason.
He and his brother, Phoenix, came from a family of performance artists who were tied up in a Christian cult and lived in Cuba if I recall correctly.
They fled both. Joaquin watched his brother die of a drug overdose while they were clubbing (in 1993). He’s never fully recovered from the grief. He suffers from severe depression.
He and his wife recently (2020) had a baby and named him Phoenix.
Don’t like his political stance here, but I do appreciate his talent.
