Pence calls Trump’s abortion stance a ‘slap in the face’ to supporters

Former Vice President Mike Pence blasted former President Trump on Monday for embracing the position that abortion policy should be determined by states and avoiding taking a stance on whether the federal government should enforce a national ban at a certain cutoff point.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Pence — who was Trump’s running mate in 2016 and 2020 —said Trump’s newly announced position on abortion was a “slap in the face” to opponents of abortion rights who voted for their ticket.

“President Trump’s retreat on the Right to Life is a slap in the face to the millions of pro-life Americans who voted for him in 2016 and 2020,” Pence wrote in his post, before praising the steps their administration took to further the anti-abortion effort.

“By nominating and standing by the confirmation of conservative justices, the Trump-Pence Administration helped send Roe v. Wade to the ash heap of history where it belongs and gave the pro-life movement the opportunity to compassionately support women and unborn children. In the landmark Dobbs decision, the Supreme Court returned the question of abortion to the states and the American people,” Pence wrote.

Does this creep realize that Trump is actually supporting Dobbs?

“”Oh, and btw, Trump should not have taken any position on this matter. Whoever his advisors are, they are GOPe and are trying to backstab him.
THERE ARE NO VOTES TO BE WON OR MINDS TO BE CHANGED ON ABORTION. Do not talk about it.
Talk about the border. Non stop.””

Saying it goes to states was a smart move...........since that is what the court said.

Excerpt that reiterating it as a states rights issue is important for the debate. This court case did not outlaw abortion; it merely put the onus on the states and their respective electorates to make their own laws — as it should have always been.

Trump has been hitting Linda on Truth on this. The issue isn’t going to bw solved by November. Running on it is stupid. Does Pence support a no exception 0 day Federal ban on abortion? Does he think he can run a national election on that and win? These Repukes are all such liars. If it’s this important why do they continue Passing budgets for a government that supports federal funding of abortions? Is Pence willing to hold up money for Ukraine until the Bidem administration stops funding abortions? Is Pence willing to shut down the government until the Biden administration stops funding abortions? If not, then shut up you’re all talk, no action.

Why would it be ok to have an abortion after 5 weeks? 6 weeks isn’t being any more consistent than 15 weeks if your position is that life starts at conception and abortion is murder. The only consistent position would be 0 day 0 exceptions.

Losing elections to pedophiles for long enough may not be a great way to save babies in the long run. I don’t see one “strong, Christian, Anti abortion” GOP politian willing to shut down the government in order to stop funding of abortions so EVERYONE is a phony and a liar. They wouldn’t even dare attach funding of Ukraine to stopping the funding of abortions so what exactly, at the federal level, is the difference between hard right and hard left? Nothing. No action from the Repukes. A lot of talk though.

exactly!

It is hardly a slap in the face to go by the constitution. All rights not expressly given to the federal government belong to the states.

How is it a slap in the face to give the rights back to the people?

He always made my skin crawl

Pence had always supported Roe v Wade being overturned, thus leaving the issue to the states. But now that Trump has made it his official campaign position, Pence must, as a swamp creature, go against what he’s previously always supported. He’s a vile hack with zero integrity. Not that that’s breaking news.

Wrong.

15 weeks is a strong pro-abortion position.

this is an area where we need to convince others that abortion is wrong. legislation will not work because the majority sadly want it...

What is this jackass talking about? SCOTUS ruled they had no constitutional authority to rule on abortion which is absolutely right, so they left it to the states to decide. So is Pence saying SCOTUS should ignore the constitution and just rule like a dictatorship? Why did Trump pick this guy?

Nahh, she doesn’t shine that bright.

I was watching a NASA replay last night and they commented on it, too. Possible solar flare or coronal mass ejection. It was very prominent.

Minority women lost jobs as well. But they don't seem to care because Fedzilla is their baby daddy.
