"Several homeowners told CBS that they would be “arrested instantly” if they were to change the locks, evict the squatters, or turn off necessities such as hot water. They are forced to pay for the upkeep of the homes while squatters, many of whom are illegal immigrants, get to live in them for free."

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
I would argue that the state or municipality, by threatening arrest or else if the aggrieved will not foot the bill for the squatters constitutes a form of involuntary servitude.

"nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."
Since the state/municipality is now inserting itself between the owner and the property, it could be argued it is an illegal taking.

Since the few Conservative folks in NYC have already moved to Conservative States, it will be a long time before the NYC Progressives realize they have committed suicide.

New York is lost to the free world. Gone. If you are a producer, and not a taker, the government of NY has just confiscated your property from you and has forced you into slavery. It is taking your assets from you and giving them to your replacements.

It’s a marxist dream come true. Eliminate the middle class after taking all its money. It’s happening.

There is no recourse. You will go to jail if you try to stop them from taking what you have worked for all your life. It’s the end of the Noble Experiment, one state at a time.

This is a clear demonstration that their government has become their enemy. It’s all about the census and letting illegal migrants pour into the city - but they’ve no plan to house them. Hence this garbage.

When people were asked about ‘immigrants’ (omitting the world ‘illegal’), they were all for it. When they were asked if they would house one of them they all answered “I don’t have the space”. Now the government isn’t even asking. They’re deliberately displacing the legal citizens.

It’s nothing short of treason. The cops are culpable too - they’re “just following orders”.

but of course the state can turn off power and electric when homeowners don’t pay- weird that the state doesn’t get arrested for the same thing!

Squatters — like rioters, looters and arsonists — should be shot on sight.

So what’s to keep you and a bunch of large friends from squatting on the squatters?

Remember when the musical “Rent” was seen as somehow saving Broadway—and therefore the City?

Clearer eyes were reconsidering that over a decade ago:

But still the City itself seems not to have learned from it.

The “30 days of squatting law” and then you’re considered a tenant is insanity. Of course, if these properties were already occupied by a tenant or an owner this crap would be happening a lot less.

These squatter stories will saturate the news media for at least a decade.

The nearly all Dem voting NYC public has been subjected to violent criminals out on bail or without bail, others released early and still others not apprehended due to rules having to be followed by police. (Example: Police cannot question an illegal alien about their true name and status in a sanctuary city.)

And now these squatter stories are enraging to them. Will they reform?
