When I was in college, the Student Union was constantly occupied by Iranian students “down with the Shah” every damn day. I wonder how they like it when they got what they were asking for?
As a side note, a lot of the Persian women were beautiful, now they’re under the thumb of Islam.
It would be an ally if the CIA would have left the elected government alone in 1953. On behalf of the Brits, the CIA ran a coup and installed the Shah who spent the next 25 years letting SAVAK electrocute the nuts off anyone who had the slightest crazy idea they shouldn’t be an authoritarian monarchy.
That repression laid the groundwork for the 79 revolution where *even bigger* A-holes, the mullahs and Ayatollah Khomeini came to power.
The CIA and Brits have caused more misery in the world than can be accurately calculated.
