Trump campaign: DeSantis event competing with ‘entire Republican cause’

PALM BEACH, Fla. (NewsNation) — With dueling events this weekend, some of the nation’s biggest GOP donors will have to choose between former President Donald Trump or former presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Trump is expected to attend a major joint fundraiser between his campaign and the RNC on Saturday. A campaign source confirmed to NewsNation that it will be hosted at a private residence in Palm Beach.

Expectations are high for Trump to offset President Joe Biden’s recent $25 million fundraiser, with the Trump campaign anticipating an estimated $43 million fundraising haul Saturday. That’s an effort that could be hindered by another just about an hour north.

Fight Right was one of two PACs DeSantis had backing him during his failed 2024 presidential bid. Fight Right officials tell NewsNation the investor retreat has been scheduled for more than two months and had nothing to do with Trump’s fundraiser.

The PAC is hosting the weekend event to thank donors who contributed to DeSantis’ 2024 presidential campaign.

An itinerary shows DeSantis will speak at The Future of Florida panel on Friday. On Saturday morning, investors are expected to provide feedback on what went wrong with DeSantis’ presidential campaign. Florida first lady Casey DeSantis will host a lunch that afternoon, followed by a “Fireside Chat” with DeSantis on Saturday night.

Sources close to the Trump campaign tell NewsNation they anticipate donors will skip out on the governor’s Saturday remarks at the investor retreat to attend Trump’s fundraiser in Palm Beach.

Additionally, a Trump campaign official said the DeSantis-aligned event is “competing with the entire Republican cause” as GOP leaders push to unify donors behind their presumptive presidential nominee.

Is this correct, or not?

You and backpacker really need to get over your obsession, regardless.

Time for you to move on to another conservative to attack and malign...he's not running for anything right now. You attacked that conservative with false attacks running for Senate up in Pennsylvania - isn't there another conservative presently running for something you can try to destroy?

Trump is an insecure moron. He’s making it almost impossible to support him. A total mess since November 2020. Probably since Covid and BLM. He’s trying to lose Republican votes that he needs.

But then DeSantis dropped out. Who gives a shhhhhhhhh when it was scheduled. Why is Ron still going ahead with donor events after he dropped out? Because he is still running.

Sounds like an tempest in a teapot. Article says a Trump staffer made the comment, not Trump.

Usually, politicians try to help the top of the ticket, and accommodate their campaigns.

But this is similar to the other Western countries I know about: Regime “conservatives” try to sabotage the populists.

This isn't a fund-raising event, you dimwit. It's a thank you to his donors as well as a post-campaign "lessons learned" debrief.

Because he is still running.

Good. I'd love to be able to vote for him! He's an order of magnitude better than the orange New York liberal.

Stay with the truth! He is not soliciting, he is thanking those that supported him.

I really suggest you get treatment for your DDS.

Floridian J6ers still rotting in the gulag.

Not a peep out of Ron DeUnlectable.

He scheduled prior to Trump-just temporarily suspend disbelief and pretend that makes all the world of difference.

It goes hand in hand with pretending the sham sabotage Trump primary was real and this guy can run the nation someday.

“ Ron DeSanctus at it AGAIN”

Lighten up, Francis. Trump is our nominee and you have ZERO need to fight yesterday’s battles. It’s counterproductive. Instead, feel free to attack Biden and that whole crew working hard to destroy/weaken our nation.

Don’t be too hard on them. They don’t understand that this is another example of Trump having people on staff that can’t handle basic things like scheduling. Team Trump had to know DeSantis was having an event before they set up theirs or else they were too stupid to check to see what else was occurring nearby. This date was probably choosen to take a jab at DeSantis.
