$15 million in 1957 would be $169 Million today..........
I keep hearing that interest in watching baseball is declining, especially with younger people. Does the world really need another stadium, or would this be a project mainly to enrich the builders for a few years?
Why not stadium share with the LV raiders?
The Tropicana is pretty much a dump, anyway - not that the Triple A’s will improve the area. The renderings for the new stadium are absurd and would require Yankees-level TV and crowd revenues to afford.
I thought Oakland ran out of sports teams for their politicians to sell.
Mrs. Afterguard and I stayed there a couple times in the ‘90s and again in 2005. Nice hotel and well located but even then it was showing its age. far newer/nicer were available
Vegas visitors will keep these stadiums full and they can maintain high ticket prices. Oakland doesn't have that kind of clientele in large numbers.
Really? This is a good idea? After they've caught Ohtani for gambling?
That would make sense. Getting more use from the same construction project. Plus, people like familiarity. That kind of a stadium would be the Go To place for pro sports in that area. Sentimental value. The Oakland Coliseum used to be such a spot in The Cal. Bay Area back when the Raiders were up here.
Not true. Oakland had a loyal fan base. They continued to go to all the games until the owner announced he was moving the team to Vegas. The owner refused to maintain the stadium in Oakland and wouldn't spend any money on the team. He's like the owner in the movie Major League.
“I thought Oakland ran out of sports teams for their politicians to sell.”
The Oakland A’s team is privately owned.
The Aโs are currently averaging 8,789 people per game, lowest in the majors
Does Ricky Ricardo still perform there?
Will the new stadium be used as a shelter for people crossing the border illegally?
I actually stayed there two years ago- it wasn’t bad- clean, decent restaurants. Much better than the Luxor which i stayed at the prior year. That place was dirty and a lot of white trash
You left out beer, hot dogs, and TV revenue.
Jeff Fisher is the worst owner in the league. Just watch the movie "Major League".
