Retired officers have always been liable to call back, even enlisted are if their initial enlistment doesn’t cover their much tinier window of obligation.

Retired officers have always been liable to call back
We're not talking about the retired list, which has been in place for decades. We're talking about the Army, starting in March 2024, will begin implementation of the retiree recall program to fill critical vacancies. I don't know why you're in denial over this. It's written in black and white in the link I sent you.
If it's any consolation, if they do decide to recall you to active duty, "Retirees may be released for poor performance."

Looks like they missed a great opportunity to recall a fine military man, Lou Conter. But he just died, at age 102—the last survivor of the Arizona at Pearl Harbor.
