Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday signed a law that lowers the country’s conscription age from 27 to 25 as Kyiv struggles to replenish its troops in its war against Russia.
Zelenskyy said last year that his government was exploring ways to mobilize more than 450,000 new troops to support soldiers facing exhaustion on the frontlines. But the proposal to lower the mobilization age is highly unpopular, and Zelenskyy was reportedly hesitant about signing the bill into law.
Some had proposed mobilizing NATO troops in Ukraine to support Kyiv’s war efforts, but several bloc members dismissed the idea.

Hard to get the exact data. But the Russians are on the offensive so they are taking more casualties. Plus they treat their conscripts as cannon fodder. That's the Russian way.
So the ratio of casualties to death for Russia and Ukraine are 3:1 and 5:1.

Japan had plenty of men, but they were in the wrong spot (on the Asian mainland). When Japan surrendered, they still had millions of troops occupying parts of Asia.
Germany faced the same dilemma late in WWI; they had over a million troops in Russia (which had already surrendered) but didn’t dare to bring them westward because they were radicalized after fraternizing with Russians. They were running out of food and ammo, but not men - just reliable men.
“Age limit is up to 45. After that, you’re too old to fight.”

Didn't matter. We had nukes.
