FBI crime data has always been inaccurate. The last time I looked the FBI crime database showed no homicides in Newtown CT in December 2012.

I am sure that FBI data has never been 100% complete since that would be a near impossible task. The following short video explains why their data is much worse in the last two years with a specific breakdown of what is now missing and why.
