No! We were not rained out ... it was a glorious event!!
We did have some clouds, but, we caught the eclipse off and on, while the clouds drifted by.
But ... the most amazing thing ... was the totality. EVERYTHING went nighttime dark, for almost 2 mins.
Birds were singing/chirping LOUDLY just before ... became quiet during ... then, picked up, normally, after.
Such a fun and rare experience to share with kids/grandkids.
SIL shot drone footage ... no idea, yet, how that turned out, but, our camera vids caught great footage of the area, solar lights coming on in yards, etc.
Wondering how Allegra’s viewing went ... she is further north, than us.
Thanks for sharing, Jane.
Sounds like a wonderful memory that the kids will always remember.
Too much cloud cover here but it did get a bit darker like it does when it’s going to rain.
😄🥰Such a fun and rare experience to share with kids/grandkids.
>>>So happy for you, dear Jane that you enjoyed such a special and glorious days with your kids/grandkids.
I pretty much followed coverage on TV.
Omigosh, that was amazing. I had never seen a total solar eclipse before. I loved the diamond ring effect, the temperature dropping, that 360° sunset that ringed the horizon and that we could see stars. That it got dark at 1:38 in the afternoon like that. That aura that danced.
And just before totality, birds started flying in a haphazard, confused pattern.
What an experience!
It seemed like dusk for a few minutes where I live.
LoL_lady said she was looking at it through a colander. She’ll have to explain.
I didn’t go outside. My eyesight is weird enough without looking directly at the sun. 😎
Sounds like it was quite the experience.
We had a similar eclipse when I was a child.
