So where were the tugboats?
Imagine the frantic scrambling to re-route everything. But there are people who know how to handle these things, thank goodness.
The Port of NYC was bigger by far, but it mostly went away in the 1960s without the
economy collapsing. That was due to the longshoreman's union keeping containers out
in the misguided belief they were protecting their jobs.
THIS. All the people claiming this was intentional from one long distance video have no clue how ships operate. They think it’s like driving a car.
So where were the tugboats?
One tug did head towards MS Dali when they heard the Mayday call, but were too late to stop the allision.
1000 ft ships don’t turn unless they are given rudder. There was no wind and the current is minimal running in the direction of the channel.
No power. They still don’t stop on a dime in a channel.
