Good article. This answered my question about tugs. An earlier article says the captain did ask for tugs when the trouble started,but this author said the tugs were too slow to catch up. I didn’t know they were that slow.

The timeline was something like four minutes between loss of power/control and collision. In that time, the pilot radio’s for tugs, made a Mayday call to save people, regained control then lost it again. Heroic stellar work.

No way a tug could possibly get there on time. Tugs are by design very slow but very powerful. One article said the top speed of a tug is about the speed the ship was going.
