The bridge was not designed and built to withstand such an impact. Bollards could have been built to protect the support pilings, but for whatever reason - $ I’m sure - that was not done. Even if the Port Director is a DEI appointee and knows nothing about ports and shipping (and knowing Baltimore and Maryland politics, I’m sure that is the case), she wasn’t of the crew or piloting the ship.

In Texas our governor and other conservatives got the crap beaten out of them by the Left for appointing (apparently) non-qualified people to ERCOT (electricity operator). Were they responsible for the deadly blackout 3 years ago? Maybe, maybe not (after all, it was a record cold snap and load up on wind power was certainly not their idea) - but the Left sure as hell blamed them, ANYWAY.

Such protections could have been added AT ANY TIME even AFTER the bridge was opened almost half a century ago. Is there any critical bridge FORTIFICATION provision in Biden’s MASSIVE “infrastructure” bill or does that money go to windmills and similar misallocations of investment?
