Funny thing is, isn’t AAVE basically derived from a certain 17th century dialect of English? I read that somewhere, what sound like quirks to standard American English speakers are actually following grammatical rules.

I never heard that so I looked it up (just a cursory search, mind) and it seems one theory is that it comes from the the 18th century South, with some new rules added recently. Thanks for the push!

Me, I'm just waiting for this bezzomny cheena to stop the chepooka and go back to munchy-wunchy pischka (appy-polly-loggies to the real horrorshow Anthony Burgess).
