Have they blamed Trump yet?
It’s definitely hard to say how much was taken out, but it definitely looks like the majority of the bridge. It appears at least all the center spans ended up collapsing, may be a possibility of spans closest to the shore remained intact.
Relaasing the brake on an anchor requires NO POWER.
Governor Moore announces new Port of Baltimore cargo records
Guess we all know now how they did it, eh?
Do you have a link?Thanks
They are still hiding the prayer rugs and Korans.
“Dropping the anchor would have stopped the piece of sh!t container ship.”
No, it would not have. The mass of that moving ship far exceeds the strength of the ship’s superstructure. The result would have been a huge chunk of the deck being ripped off unless the anchor chain failed first, which is also a district possibility.
Nothing stops an object with that much mass immediately. It’s not physically possible.
You’re way out of your depth here. Best to just shut up.

Wikipedia says the longest span is 1200 feet, but as one can see there are 3 truss spans.
Yes, it would have.
My first thought also, but someone on X noted that the ship lost power twice in the approach.
Just terrible regardless.
Waiting for more details…

It’s definitely leaves more questions than answers. It’s not like this was a bridge in the middle of nowhere with bad lighting at night. The bridge was clearly visible, along with it, supports from both the bridges lighting in the lights of the nearby buildings.
My first thought also, but someone on X noted that the ship lost power twice in the approach = Drop the anchor!!!!!!!!!!!
Sky News:
Ship ‘lost propulsion’ and warned of crash - report
The Dali container ship “lost propulsion” as it left the port and the crew on board had warned Maryland officials of a possible crash, according to ABC News, which cites an unclassified US intelligence report.
“The vessel notified MD Department of Transportation (MDOT) that they had lost control of the vessel and a collision with the bridge was possible,” ABC quoted the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency as saying.
“The vessel struck the bridge causing a complete collapse.”
In this situation the anchor is your friend.

Question: We’re all of those 9 points in place at that time on that ship?
Answer: You don’t know.
Correct response from you: Silence.

It’s hard to tell from that angle, but it almost looks like even before the first power loss it was not centered in the span and watched closer to the support.
