Looks like it’s a Ports America port.
Wonder if that might have something to do with this...

poorly designed bridge. only the section hit should have gone down - not the whole 1.6 miles

In daylight, the waterline of the Dali indicates that the many containers are probably empty.

It looks like a recording of the original video. The original video was a webcam.

Part of the FSK bridge is sitting on the bow of the container ship...

I think just the spans near the channel went down.

Well here we go. Maybe not a black swan but definitely a grey goose. Followed by a rubber chicken soon in the media follies.

This bridge was literally in our back yard when we lived in Florida for 40 years. They rebuilt the Skyway bridge with concrete barriers to keep ships from hitting it again. Photo shows the concrete barriers.

Plus if you watched the exhaust got very black, indicative of a diesel under a very high load. they were trying to stop,Or speeding up to ramming speed.

I was on a company trip in 1994 and went down to Clearwater.
Went out on some peninsula to lay on the beach - couldn’t sit still for 20 minutes in those days so I got up off the beach
It was some sort of tourist trap - t-shirt shops, etc.
I can’t remember what restaurant I ate at that night - simply too long ago - it was on the beach, though
Our group was actually staying at the Tampa Marriott
I think they took us to a Cuban restaurant in Ybor City
I remember that they were playing music and dancing on stage while we ate - best black beans and rice I have ever had

what kind of poor design would allow the entire ship to lose power all at once. They don’t have multiple generators and circuits for a ship that size.
—
A shaft bearing could have failed, for example. Not possible to be redundant there. Failure on ships that large takes a while to fix or back ups to kick in. Its not some Tupperware day boat.

Somebody up thread mentioned the “48 hour rule” for sufficient facts to be determined to make rational conclusions. On this thread? Unlikely.

I expect there will be similar features in the rebuilt FSK bridge.

Doesn’t appear to be any damage to the ship’s bridge...
Wonder if everyone is still on board...
