Yes, essentially it is a sort of hurricane. Or perhaps better said is that a hurricane is a special case east coast low.
We don’t use the generator constantly. We turn it on and off for the fridge and freezer and the well pump for water. Since we have a wood stove, we don’t need to run it continually for heat.
Our generator uses propane as well, so like last year, when we had a tree take out our power lines to the house and were without power for two days, we just hooked it up to the propane.
Mr. mm says that gas use depends on the load and that the specs for each generator should give an idea of what to expect.
