Seizing Trump’s property may give him immediate standing to pursue his appeal through the Federal court system — bypassing the New York State courts.

That’s an excellent point I hadn’t thought of, that he may need her to actually initiate the first steps of confiscation before he would have absolute unquestioned standing in Federal Court, that overt act being more powerful than just the judgement itself. And it may not even go that far, if the fine is reduced, so he should keep his powder dry on that for now. Thanks!

One would think that not being able to obtain the bond was enough for an 8th amendment standing.

The fine was so excessive that it also violated Trump's due process and equal protection rights.
