New York Attorney General Letitia James on Wednesday requested an appeals court turn down former President Donald Trump’s request to reduce or hold off collecting the bond amount of $454 million to cover a civil fraud judgment.
Trump must post a liquid (cash, securities) bond covering the full amount of the judgment to pause enforcement of the judgment, but 30 surety companies told Trump they would not accept real estate assets as collateral, Trump’s lawyers said Monday.
James could seek to freeze some of his bank accounts and properties if Trump cannot post the $454 million bond. Enforcement against Trump could begin as soon as March 25.

It’s hard to read this stuff as it pisses me off so badly.
In NYS, as a result of this very case, no lender or bond insurance company wll accept real estate as collateral, lest they become embroiled in the next case. NY has undermined its property tax base in a catastrophic manner, IMO.
The purpose of the outrageous fee (”disgorgement”) is to leave President Trump in a situation where he either has to liquidate some of his holdings, personally finance the bond, or allow them to start taking what THEY want of his holdings.
I do not know if Mar a Lago is beyond their reach, but that single property would be appraised for sale at the hundred-plus million dollar level, rather than the measly 18 million Engoron assigned as its value. If they were to seize and appraise it, it completely wipes out the “legal” valuation provided by the Judge (as prompted by AG James). They have to be careful, lest the both of them be subject to punitive measures from a sane jurisdiction - such as the Federal souther district in Florida.
They think they have beaten him. Perhaps that is true. However, in trying to gain possession of their spoils they may even put themselves, professionally and hopefully personally, in legal jeopardy.

A corrupt judge sentences you to 20 lashes for a made up crime. Everybody knows the charge is bogus and not likely to survive appeal.
